The YMCA adhere to the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation and the Watch Around Water Policy. Watch Around Water promotes consistent supervision of children by parents while at aquatic facilities. Children under the age of 5 years must be constantly supervised and remain within arms reach. Children under the age of 10 years must be accompanied in the facility and constantly supervised by an adult. During the lesson, the parent/guardian must watch the class and locate themselves within viewing distance without physical or structural barriers between you and the class. At the start of the lesson parents are required to come to the edge of the pool and directly hand their child over to the teacher. At the conclusion of the lesson the parent is required to come to the edge of the pool and collect their child directly from the teacher. This is to ensure there are no supervision gaps at the beginning and conclusion of swimming lessons.
